Janis Cutler Gear is a ceramic artist who draws upon her experience in painting to embelish wheel thrown vessels. Janis sculpts relief forms within the clay surface. Transparent glazes reveal the subtle nuances of light created by the carved forms and painted images.

Her imagery, derived from nature, lends itself to be wrapped around the curvilinear format of the ceramics. This circular clay form of the pot enables her to create an intertwining network of art. Round and continual like the earth, formed from the earth creating a nest of nature.
